JAMDANI - DIAPHANOUS DECADENCE
An ode to the finest, the Jamdani is the most refined and the mother of all weaves. The word Jamdani is from Persian origin – ‘jam' meaning flower, and ‘dani' a vase. Made from a gossamer pure cotton textile that is so light that it moves to the gentlest breeze, the Jamdani is a pure delicacy of fabric and weave. During the Mughal period, the textile found great patronage with these woven dreams presented in all their diaphanous beauty to the Emperors and their Queens. Subtle and decadent at the same time often with a play of pure zari in gold and silver, the Jamdani simply tantalizes. At Warp ‘n Weft, we use an impeccable Ektara construction on our pure silver and gold zari sarees in sheerest, finest muslins and gethua silks. The ultimate collectible for any trousseau it is an heirloom weave. The Jamdani is sheer poetry on textile.
